A Rabbit's Tale

With the premature deaths of famous people such as Gary Speed, Margaret Thatcher and Dennis Wise the hamster on everybody's minds, I thought it would be appropriate to say a few things about my own 1st brush with mortality.

Many moons ago I put up a sticker on our dining room window - 'On the run with Harry'. It was a Ribena sticker and was a strange omen as I had a rabbit called Harry at the time, and he went on the run never to return.

Shortly afterwards we bought a replacement rabbit. His name was Ricky. He was soon replaced though as there was confusion as to his actual gender, and his shits smelt wrong.

Finally we settled on a female rabbit that we called Nancy. There was lots of speculation after her death as to the cause. Malnutrition being the most common theory to her passing. My school friends were adamant and somewhat disgusted that I might have been responsible for her untimely demise.

She was a good rabbit though, even if she had the habit of pissing on and/or biting more or less anyone who held her. A further conspiracy raged as the years went by that she was an experiment in breeding killer rabbits.

Did you name your first rabbit after the (at the time) Bournemouth manager?
